Overview
This course teaches laboratory assistant skills that are integral to the daily routines of healthcare employees. The class is focused on both hands-on and problem-solving skills, which will prepare you for your role as an integral member of the frontline healthcare workforce. You’ll learn how to administer vaccines, collect specimens and perform basic lab tests.
This course trains students to collect, process, and prepare patient specimens, enter data, perform clerical and reception services, perform electrocardiograms and urinalyses and carry out basic laboratory procedures.
This course prepares students for their role as integral members of the healthcare team by providing a broad foundation in laboratory science theory integrated with authentic simulation environments and workplace clinical practicums. Students learn to incorporate exemplary patient and client-centric behaviours while mastering the techniques of blood collection (phlebotomy), analytical sample collection and preparation, and perform electrocardiagrams.

Duration
Students are only required to be present in school during hours or days which they have classes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 Credits in no more than 2 sittings in WAEC, NECO or GCE
- Police clearance report and/or Undertaking of good behaviour & active participation
- Guarantor’s letter (Obtain format from the school)

- Sneakers/Covered flat sole shoes (no sandals, heels or slippers)
- Writing materials (Obtainable at the school)
- Stethoscope (optional and obtainable at the school)
- Facemask/Respirator (as required)
